Dear Teachers:
The Historic Rail Park
Museum is very proud of the accomplishments that have taken place
over the last several years in the restoration of the Bowling
Green Depot. We would like to share with students the history
of the
L & N railroad which has provided essential services and jobs
to so many and has had a major economic and cultural impact on
our country.
Enclosed please find
information that can assist you in preparing your lesson plans
and your students for a fieldtrip to the museum. We have provided
an overview and other materials for your use so that students
can benefit academically and culturally from their visit.
If you have any questions
about the materials provided, please feel free to contact Sharyn
Bailey, Educational Consultant, baileysls@aol.com or 270-781-6365.
If you are interested
in scheduling a fieldtrip this year, please use the information
provided online and/or call the depot to make a reservation at 270-745-7317.
You may also want to
consider making a day of it and visit the Kentucky Museum on the
campus of Western Kentucky University, http://www.wku.edu/library/kylm/education/index.html
, and The Lost River Cave, http://www.lostrivercave.com/
Areas are available
for picnicking.
Hope to see you!
