As the holiday season approaches, we invite you to kick off the festivities with us at the Historic RailPark & Train Museum’s Lighting of the Depot on Thursday, November 21, 2024! This annual event brings together the community for a night of holiday cheer, music, and history – all in the beautifully restored setting of the L&N Depot.
Here’s what you can look forward to:
Private Donor Reception – 4:00 p.m.
For our generous donors, we are hosting an exclusive reception in the Depot’s Grand Lobby. Enjoy an open bar, delicious hors d’oeuvres, and an opportunity to connect with others who are passionate about preserving rail history. This special gathering requires an RSVP, so please check your email for a special invitation link and secure your spot!
Restoration Update Program – 4:45 p.m.
Curious about what’s new at the RailPark? We’ll share updates from our 2024 Campaign, highlighting our progress, upcoming plans, and how your contributions are making a difference in our preservation efforts.
Open to the Public – 5:00 p.m.
The Depot doors open to everyone! Warm up with a cup of hot chocolate and treat yourself at our dessert bar, while children can enjoy a ride on Lil’ Toot, our mini train! Step into history as you explore open railcars, including the #109 Segregated Passenger Car, WWII Hospital Car, and a vintage Caboose.
Light Up the Depot – 6:00 p.m.
The main event! Gather outside for a performance by the Community Choir and watch as we light up the Depot, creating a dazzling display that marks the start of the holiday season. Join in the celebration as the Depot comes alive with lights and festive cheer.
Event Closes – 7:00 p.m.
Take one last stroll around the beautifully illuminated grounds or check out our gift shop for unique holiday items.
