On March 13th, we braved the Friday the 13th jitters and hosted our 6th annual Sip & Putt Mini Golf Scramble. That didn’t stop us from having our best turnout to date. The doors opened at 11:30 A.M., and we welcomed all participants with open arms. With it being our biggest year, we needed a great food sponsor, and we are so lucky to have found that in Danny’s Italian! His homemade pasta was a huge hit, and we were happy to have him as a new addition!
With empty plates and full drinks, it was time for the scramble to begin. The teams fled to their respective holes, and the laughter and fun filled the halls. Not only was there a mini golf challenge ensuing, but we also had a silent auction tucked away in our breezeway with a vintage twist. There were so many eclectic items to enjoy; from scintillating spirits to local favorites, there was something for everyone to enjoy. By the end of the night, packages flew away with the winners, leaving them with bright smiles on their faces.
The silent auction was not the only aspect that gained attention, as a separate challenge was set in place at our evening tee time. As announcements were ending, two very brave souls, Slim Nash and Shawn Helbig, exclaimed their competition. The clashing of the radio dynamos encouraged everyone to join in and add additional donations to the RailPark. While the staff and teams all laughed and cheered them on, it was great to know that some colorful jabs contributed to aiding our window restoration.
The teams went on their way to conquer all 18 holes. By the end, everyone left feeling satisfied and hungry for a rematch next year. The two best individuals and the two best teams prevailed and walked away with awards, while the two “need some adjustments” individuals and teams walked away with lessons in how to improve for next year.
A great success for all who were involved, especially the staff, volunteers, donors, and sponsors. A special thank you to all the wonderful donors and sponsors who contributed to the event’s success. Without them, this event would not have exceeded expectations. A huge thank you to the staff and volunteers for all of the hard work to ensure the smooth running of the event!
